In Syrien geht die Interimsregierung weiter gegen die Hizbollah vor, die man dort so gar nicht mag, schließlich war sie eng mit dem Assad-Regime verbündet:

Syria’s authorities announced Thursday the arrest of a cell affiliated with the Lebanese paramilitary group Hezbollah in Damascus, in the latest move targeting the Iran-backed group following the fall of its ally, the Assad regime, late last year.

What happened: The commander of Internal Security in Damascus province, Ahmed al-Dalati, said in a statement that specialized units in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate captured several members of the Hezbollah cell that were active in the towns of Sasa and Kanaker in the western countryside of Damascus. Photos released by Syrian authorities appeared to show five detainees.

According to Dalati, all cell members had received training in camps in neighboring Lebanon and were planning operations inside Syria that threatened its stability and the safety of its people.

Several weapons including missile launchers, 19 Grad missiles and anti-tank missiles and large quantities of various kinds of ammunition were confiscated during the operation, he added.

Lebanese Hezbollah denied on Thursday  a statement issued by the Syrian Interim Government’s Ministry of Interior, which claimed that a cell affiliated with the group was arrested in the western countryside of Damascus.

Earlier in the day, the Ministry of Interior announced that its forces had apprehended several individuals alleged to be members of Hezbollah. According to the ministry, the cell was reportedly active in the towns of Sa’sa and Kanaker, both located in Damascus’ western countryside.

In response, Hezbollah’s Media Relations Office issued a statement rejecting the claims. “We categorically and completely deny what the Syrian Interior Ministry mentioned regarding the affiliation of those arrested in western Damascus countryside to Hezbollah,” the statement read.

The office further reiterated, “Media Relations reaffirms once again what it has previously declared: Hezbollah has no presence and does not carry out any activity on Syrian territory.”
