Demonstration gegen Scharia in Basra

Seit Wochen wird wieder überall im Südirak und in Bagdad demonstriert. Der Protest richtet sich gegen Korruption und ein unfähiges Establishment, vor allem aber gegen den Einfluss des Iran im Land.

Deutlicher geht es kaum: In Basra demonstrierten sie heute gegen wachsenden Einfluss von Klerikern auf den Gesetzgebungsprozess. Das erinnere an die islamische Republik oder den IS. 

Die arabische Straße in Basra fordert also für weniger, nicht mehr Scharia im Irak!

Demonstrators in Iraq's Basra took to the streets on Monday ahead of the passing of the federal Supreme Court Bill the parliament is set to vote on.

The protesters have rejected the involvement of Islamic Jurisprudence experts in the Federal Supreme Court, believing that this is an attempt to convert it into the rule of "Wilayat al-Faqih and ISIS courts", as reported by Shafaq News.

The demonstrators, meanwhile, called for the dismissal of the local government in Basra and bringing the perpetrators behind the killing of demonstrators to justice, local police told the report.

Shafaq News also cited Joseph Saliwa, the former Christian representative, as considering the involvement of the Islamic Jurisprudence experts in the Federal Supreme Court as an attempt to convert it into the rule of "Wilayat al-Faqih and ISIS courts".
